Alternative to the road. Unfortunately, it's not asphalt, but rather on rocks. But it's still easy to navigate.

If the road is closed—as it was in my case—the dike is a great alternative. Unfortunately, it's not asphalt, but cobblestones. Still easy to ride on a road bike.

The classic. Good asphalt, but the traffic is somehow getting more and more numerous and increasingly stupid.

After driving under the motorway bridge, the Lingelmannstrasse climb begins after the next left turn. It climbs moderately at first but then slows down a bit. Then it levels out briefly and you can take a deep breath before another hill comes, which is soon overcome.

At the height of the Ahr beach house you have a beautiful view of the Rhine loop there and of the Walsum coal-fired power station, which is about 10 km away. The Rhine ferry dock is also located there. An interface between the rural Lower Rhine and the urban western Ruhr area.

Formerly a chic café. Then left unused and left to decay, but recently reopened as a cultural center. Lots of outdoor seating outside with a premium view of the Rhine.

The route here is more suitable for gravel bikes.
