The Veste Oberhaus is really a top excursion destination. You can climb the observation tower and enjoy the 360 degree panorama, and of course you also have a great view of Passau and the old town from the walls of the fortress. The museum is open in the summer months. Of course, the beer garden with the great view is definitely a highlight in itself. There is also a youth hostel. The fortress is an architectural masterpiece with the details and the entire structure.

Very nice town located directly on the Iltz. The picturesque houses right on the river are particularly nice to photograph.

Great little place right on the Ils river. The historic buildings reflected in the river are really worth a visit.

Attention ⚠️: Unfortunately, the battlements and the Ludwigsteig cannot be accessed at the moment due to storm damage. Everything is cordoned off over a large area and the lower part of the Ludwigsteig no longer exists due to a landslide. You have to take a detour to get to the castle from the back. It is signposted. We were there again on 06/24. Unfortunately, there is no change to the construction site status. Everything is still closed 😕
