Located directly on the hiking trail, it is worth a visit

The battlement in Passau, built in 1367, connects the Veste Oberhaus with the Veste Niederhaus. It is open to pedestrians all year round and can be reached via the Ludwigsteig, among other places. The entire ascent on foot from the city center via the staircase at the suspension bridge on the Anger over the battlement up to the Veste Oberhaus takes around 15 minutes. The Ilz flows into the Danube from the left between Veste Niederhaus and Ilzstadt.

Nice to look at, unfortunately not accessible. The area around the castle is very quiet and ideal for a walk. Definitely worth the detour from the Trifttunnel😃

Reschenstein Castle is located on the wooded mountain ridge surrounded by the Ilz (Halser Ilz loop). The high medieval castle complex today consists almost exclusively of the square keep. Viewing is only possible from the outside.

Rechenstein Castle can be clearly seen from the Trift barrier below. Once you've climbed the stairs and path to the top, you can get a closer look at the castle.

The Veste Oberhaus is really a top excursion destination. You can climb the observation tower and enjoy the 360 degree panorama, and of course you also have a great view of Passau and the old town from the walls of the fortress. The museum is open in the summer months. Of course, the beer garden with the great view is definitely a highlight in itself. There is also a youth hostel. The fortress is an architectural masterpiece with the details and the entire structure.

The battlement can only be viewed from below from the courtyard. It is currently not accessible to visitors.
