At 1006.4 m above sea level, the Rainen is the fifth highest mountain in the Swabian Alb. It is located about two kilometers east of Deilingen, in whose area it is also located, and forms a mountain range with the mountains Ortenberg (just below the thousand mark), Montschenloch, Bol and Wandbühl. The Rainen is the northernmost peak of this mountain group and the region of the 10 thousand meters. Unlike Bol and Wandbühl, the Rainen is part of the Albtrauf, so that from the northwest it has a clearly visible steep flank several hundred meters high with scree slopes, which it shares with the Ortenberg. Its elongated summit is covered by a spruce forest, the highest point is marked by a summit marker. There is not much to see of the old castle walls that once shaped the mountain peak here. But that doesn't matter. Information boards tell what used to be. Then you get hold of one of the surrounding benches and enjoy the view, which is a wonderful one here. Then it is advisable to continue the tour in the direction of Lemberg over the suspension bridge, to enjoy the eaves and not to shy away from the exertion that leads a 30m high to the Lembergturm.

The Schlichen flows through a beautiful valley, which is also designated as a nature reserve - here too through rocky areas. Even if Klamm is sometimes written on site, it is by no means a gorge (narrow incision with vertical or overhanging rock walls), actually not even a real gorge (valley with slopes that are steep on both sides, but slightly sloping compared to the gorge) . So don't expect an experience like in many Bavarian Alpine gorges, but still a fascinating experience with smaller cascades and some rock faces or rocky slopes.
