The ruins of Irslingen Castle date back to the 12th century and were once the ancestral seat of the Dukes of Urslingen, an important noble family during the Hohenstaufen period. Today, parts of the circular wall with loopholes and tower bases are still preserved.

There is no sign indicating that the path goes up to the ruins! Not everyone knows the way, or the turnoff can easily be overlooked when chatting.

Apart from a small piece of foundation wall and a few stones, not much is left of the former castle. It is hard to believe that the castle, which was built in 1099 and destroyed by an earthquake in 1348, was one of the largest castles in Württemberg with a width of 26 meters and a length of 270 until shortly before its destruction.

That must have been a great castle complex. Lt. Information board. Now you have to look for the last stones in the forest. The geographic location was definitely very good for a castle.

Unfortunately not much left, except for a few hump stone blocks. According to the sign, it was a multi-part castle complex, the sections of which can still be guessed through the trenches in between.

That would be really nice if the deciduous trees in the castle itself and in the view were reduced. I just caught it before the leaves prevent the view of the impressive ruin. So it's best to stop by November - April.

Castle has broken off. Only a memorial with an explanatory plaque there. The stamp is super hidden:)
