The original stream bed was restored for DM 56,000 through the renaturation of the upper reaches of the Lachenbach. On December 6, 1990, the nature conservation officer of the city of Eckernförde, Michael Packschies, explained to the press representatives present how the Dramms Koppel depression, through which the Lachenbach flows, is being transformed into a wetland area: All that is needed is a plastic mortar bucket (cost: 5.90 DM), which prevents the water from draining away. Packschies then wedged the bucket in an inspection shaft in the depression, the original drain of the cased creek was closed and the water began to back up. In January 1991 the water level reached its highest level, the water flowed off via a natural overflow. The water depth of the Eimersee is up to 1.5 meters.
