Since I was on my bike, I was looking forward to a break with a good coffee and a slice of homemade cake. Instead, I found myself in an East Frisian farm shop, which you can only enter with an EC card – very trustworthy. Inside, everything is self-service: coffee from a machine in a paper cup and plenty of "regional" products, which seem to come from generous purchases rather than from home-grown production. Payment, of course, is completely contactless – in the truest sense of the word. So I decided to just keep cycling.

Idyllic little moor lake

A proper farm shop has been open here for a few weeks now. It now also offers coffee and cake from Moorgold, and the terrace is a great place to relax. Besides fruit and vegetables, meat is also available for purchase.

KÖNIGSKEIL ○ After the 1765 edict of reclamation, the Prussian king took possession of wasteland, heaths and moors for himself and leased them to colonists. Disputes over the land that had previously been used jointly were inevitable. The Norder Fehngesellschaft also fought with the state for 80 years over land that had been promised to them in the leasehold contract.
