The late Gothic castle was besieged, destroyed, and rebuilt several times over the course of its eventful history. The current complex consists of the upper castle with the 34-meter-high Golo Tower and the slightly lower outer castle. The castle is protected from the city by a large castle gate, and on the other side by the keep and a moat complex. The former moat is now a ring road spanned by a 20-meter-long Gothic stone bridge. The Genovevaburg Castle houses two exhibitions of the Eifel Museum: EifelTotal and the German Slate Mine.

Unfortunately, Pyrmont Castle is only open on Sundays from 1pm to 4pm.

The castle was built at the beginning of the 12th century on Celtic fortifications. It was first mentioned in 1195, when the then lord of the castle granted it as a fief to the Archbishop of Trier. The castle is visible from afar.

The castle ruins are worth seeing, but the town centre is also worth seeing.

It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk from the town to the castle ruins. There are also several paths that lead there. One is even a via ferrata. It is very picturesque and there is a beautiful view from the top.

Not only a beautiful sight from the Moselle valley, but also worth a visit.

The waterfall also rushes down into the mill pond during the drought summer of 2022. A fairytale sight that invites you to linger and dream. The picturesque restaurant in the water mill entices you to stop by. Unfortunately closed on Tuesday 😔
