Great, that would be something for me, I just looked at the pictures, an impressive complex that definitely has an interesting historical story, like every castle and palace, very impressive and beautiful. 👍👏

A very beautiful old property. Unfortunately, it's not open to the public for a full tour. However, you do have a lovely view of the community of Neidenstein and the surrounding area.

Originally a Celtic refuge, then the Romans arrived, and in the 12th century, a castle was built. It came into the possession of the Electorate of the Palatinate around 1300 and was then intended as a refuge for the ruler and his entourage from Heidelberg in case of emergency. The people of Dilsberger were granted town-like rights and, in return, were obliged to provide accommodations in case of emergency. With the dissolution of the Electorate of the Palatinate in 1803, the castle came into the possession of the state of Baden. In 1822, the castle was approved for demolition. From here, you have a beautiful view of the little castle. However, it is not open to the public.

The complex was built by Streif von Rotenberg. Only the stair tower with its Renaissance portal and parts of the outer and moat walls remain from the original structure.
