The Witches' Tower is one of the preserved towers of the former city fortifications. Next to the Witches' Tower is the oldest half-timbered house in Babenhausen; it was built in 1484.

The name is wrong here. The “Breschturm” got its name from the fact that a cannon ball closed a hole in the tower during an attack on Babenhausen. This created a “breech”.

The Witches' Tower is located directly on the historic city wall.

Babenhausen landmark. The Witches' Tower served as a prison in the late Middle Ages. Torture is said to have taken place here, some of which even led to death. The view along the old city wall is simply great. The old town and the old city wall, most of which are still preserved, impressed me the most anyway.

Beautifully located, a certain brackishness gives it its charm. As a cyclist you should be careful, especially on weekends, there is a lot going on and both walks and one or two e-bike riders have not yet internalized the traffic rules and their validity on forest paths.
