The market square is located in the heart of Erbach and directly at Erbach Castle. The Erbach Castle Market takes place here once a month.

It belongs to Erbach like many other historical ensembles: the mill wheel on the former castle mill. It stands in an exposed position between the Lustgarten and the market square, on one of the main footpaths in the historic old town. The water wheel was last reinstalled in 1986 at great expense. Wonderful old ensemble listen in Michelstadt

Michelstadt Castle, often also called the winery, is a former city castle in Michelstadt in the Odenwald district of Hesse. The thief tower to the west of the storage building was still part of the old castle complex and dates back to the 13th century. It got its name because it served as a prison. The lower floor was completely walled up and had neither door nor window. The prisoners were lowered into this room using a rope from the floor above. Michelstadt is absolutely worth seeing, not only because of the well-preserved old town and the many half-timbered buildings.

The Michelstadt Thieves' Tower was built around 950 AD. It is believed to have once been part of the local castle complex. Both the medieval city wall and the castle moat have survived to this day. From 1312 onward, the impressive Thieves' Tower served as a prison. The building had neither doors nor windows in its lower section. The prisoners were lowered into their cells by a rope from the floor above.

Both the city wall, which dates back to the Middle Ages, and the moat have been preserved to this day.
