Here you can learn a lot about ospreys and other birds, and even observe them. A nearby osprey nest can be observed through a camera and spotting scopes. Other birds are attracted by feeding.

We stopped here on our hike and were unfortunately disappointed by both the accommodation (main building, in need of complete renovation!) and the restaurant (we didn't get any food because we, as hikers, arrived 30 minutes later than we had reserved)

The Watersports Centre offers a restaurant and toilets and, with its car parking, makes an excellent start/finish point for a hike - or swim, etc etc. Oh, and it is scenic of course.

The Loch Insh Outdoor Centre offers a wide range of accommodation and multi-sport activities on site as well as a restaurant, bar and shop. Loch Insh sits in the foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains, at the lower end of Glen Feshie.

Loch Garten was the first place where Ospreys nested when they returned to Scotland. These amazing fish-eating birds spend the winter in Africa, returning to Scotland in late March and migrating to Africa again in August or September.

Sections of the ride are steep and full of gravel, so riding uphill can be a struggle. There is a narrow path, which meets up with the main path again, which is easier to ride.

The lectures on the flora and fauna of Scotland are also very interesting in addition to the ospreys!

Very scenic. Good path for hike/bike around the loch. Gift shop (not Tuesday). Toilets. Car Park £3 - cash or contactless. Nice swim out to and around the castle island.

It’s a beautiful loch to swim in and then to enjoy a hot chocolate afterwards at the little shop/cafe. I think they also rent kayaks. Very friendly people.
