After the demolition of the old Holy Spirit Church, the present-day building was built between 1897 and 1902 in the Neo-Romanesque style. The Catholic Holy Spirit Church, with medieval roots on Schultesstraße, dates back to the Hospital of the Holy Spirit, founded before 1338.
