The marina in Plau is located under the striking lighthouse at the entrance and exit to Plauer See. It is only a few steps to the old town. Plau is an ideal location for a tour of the large lakes in the Mecklenburg Lake District or for the Elde river adventure to Schwerin.

You could easily drive around the Plauer See, but unfortunately the campsite operators on the east side of the lake block the passages. A sign then points away from the lake and you end up on some hard-to-manage sandy and scree paths and just push a little, or you drive far away from the lake. This is a decision against active tourists in favor of campsite operators.
