Today's Bad Oldesloe - Henstedt-Ulzburg cycle path runs along the former narrow-gauge railway line of the Elmshorn-Barmstedt-Oldesloer-Eisenbahn AG (EBOE). The section between Bad Oldesloe and Barmstedt was opened in 1907 as an extension of the Elmshorn-Barmstedt railway line, which had already been built in 1896.
