Pretty steep and rocky uphill, but nice. It is dangerous with the flash tubes because of the cars on the street. The direct ascent to the castle afterwards is not particularly recommended.

The dominant heart of the village is Neuleinigen Castle. She was in 1240 1250 under Count Friedrich III. completed by Leiningen. It is the earliest fortified castle on German soil and was built on the model of the French castles of the Ile de France. Beautiful trail below Battenberg Castle, part of the historic path up to the castle. The path is rocky in the upper part, very worn and therefore quite slippery. It becomes magical towards the car park. Be careful at the turnoff to the left into the quarry: it is a wildlife rest area and unfortunately is only marked as such towards Neuleinigen. We were in it, which in retrospect wasn't so exciting. But it was beautiful.
