The 🟣 PURPLE PATH 🟣 is a sculpture trail that connects Chemnitz, the 2025 Capital of Culture, with 38 towns and cities in the region. Numerous artists have contributed works of various kinds, telling an unknown story of the region. More information at chemnitz2025.de/purple-path Gregor Gaida "Polygonal Horse II" at the Gahlenz Village Museum, Oederan Material: Aluminum Size: 2.80 x 2.80 x 2.80 m The founding of the Gahlenz Village Museum dates back to an exhibition of old agricultural equipment and rural arts and crafts organized by the former LPG in 1982. This exhibition, located in a three-sided courtyard, formed the basis for the Gahlenz Village Museum, which opened there in 1992. The courtyard had a horse trestle, the remains of which can still be seen today. The artist Gregor Gaida, born in 1975 in Chorzów, Poland, created the sculpture "Polygonal Horse" in 2011. Cast from aluminum, Gaida's horse no longer has a head, but instead has ten legs stretched toward the sky. The former horse trestle will become a spatial representation. Reference for Gaida's work, which depicts an ambivalent situation between strength and helplessness. Gaida's work is represented with another work in the collection of the German Bundestag and is on permanent display there. (Text: Alexander Ochs / Ulrike Pennewitz)
