The Westerwaldsteig leads through beautiful nature with a lot of variety. Sure-footedness and sturdy shoes are highly recommended on many sections. A hiking trail that is simply fun and also doable for dogs. There are many free parking spaces and information boards along the Westerwaldsteig.

the waterfall... artificially created during the construction of the railway 150 years ago, when a loop was shortened to gain building land. there are signs, but there isn't normally that much water. A local attraction.

An adventurous road, which can be called spicy, narrow and a lot of ascending and descending

Directly behind the Sieg waterfall, some smart and creative people have opened the ELMORES beer garden and lounge on the old copper works site. There are many bizarre things to discover. The break is also enriched with many tasty snacks or waffles and cakes in the afternoon. If you like, you can also enjoy one of the numerous well-made cocktails. We had only planned a short break and ended up staying at this great location for 90 minutes. On this bike tour, in our opinion, an absolute must.

The Sieg waterfall in Schladern was created during the construction of the railway from Cologne to Giessen in 1857 and 1858. The loops that the Sieg still makes through the idyllic landscape today posed a number of problems for the engineers. These were solved by energetic interventions in nature. They blasted away parts of a mountain and gave the river a new course. The original Sieg loop was closed down and partially filled in for the railway line. In order to compensate for the gradient, the waterfall was finally created, which visitors today admire as a “natural spectacle”. The waterfall cascades down over four meters in several stages over a width of 84 meters. There is a beer garden right next to it. Bikers only meet there on weekends, which means it is quite loud.
