In the Middle Ages, people searched for ore here, but apparently nothing was found. The name of the hill, Totenstein (Dead Stone), probably comes from the dead rock. Today, the protected and rare luminous moss grows in the tunnels.

The summit cross, erected by Helmut Körner in 2017 at a height of 412 m above sea level. Numerous visitors have already made entries in the summit book there. A bench and table invite you to rest after the climb and a picture commemorates the initiator of the summit cross. He has given many hikers great joy with this vantage point. Every visitor sees the beauty of our homeland here. If you walk from Freitagstrasse along the "Garnsteig" towards the valley, you can continue the hike to Friedrichsgrün, visit the park there and take the "signpost" to Vielauer Höhe or to Kiefricht. The northern and southern motorway accompanying path each offers far-reaching views of Vielau, towards Friedrichsgrün and the Reinsdorf ridge. There are also places to sit at the vantage points here.
