A small highlight in Rhineland-Palatinate. The almost continuous cycle path is really great.

Visit Döttesfeld

Even though the religious community that used to be based here left the Marienthal monastery a decade ago, the pilgrimage church was open when I visited today and was visited by some people for silent Eucharistic adoration. Next to the church there is a statue of the Sacred Heart and behind it a Lourdes grotto has been built.

A very attractive route.

Not only the Wiedtal itself is worth a tour. From there you can turn off at several points up to the Westerwaldhöhen and from there you can ski down charming routes with a great view back into the Wiedtal. It's a bit more strenuous, but it's easy to do, especially for e-bikers, and it's almost a must.

600 years of history and closed since 2022. In 2015, a tenant was secured for the house, who ran the Marienthal monastery restaurant there from May 2016 until it had to be closed on October 31, 2022 due to sharp price increases for energy and goods. Since 2017, the monastery's former house chapel has been a branch of the association's registry office

Anyone who has mastered the 177 steps up will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view.

180 steps for a great all-round view. On the railing of the viewing platform, the sights and towns are marked with a marker – funny and definitely helpful.
