It is considered one of the most magnificent half-timbered houses in Idstein, particularly for its richly decorated wood carvings, striking bay window, and curved gable. The inscription on the facade reads (roughly): "Under the protection of God, the husband and wife Johann Conrad Killing and Anna Margareta Loeberin built this house in 1615."

In the heart of the idyllic old town of Idstein is the King Adolf Square, which the town's residents affectionately call the "Gut Stubb" of Idstein. It was named in 1946 after the only German king from the House of Nassau, King Adolf, who was Roman-German king from 1292 to 1298. Meetings have always been called and court hearings held on this central market square. Today, the historic half-timbered houses around the square are particularly popular photo subjects for tourists. All year round, the King Adolf Square in Idstein is used for markets as well as for concerts, theater performances and other events.
