Castle Garden

The 16th-century palace complex has an almost rectangular floor plan and was built on the site of a medieval castle. Until then, the local lords were vassals of various families from Limpurg and Hohenlohe. Albrecht von Crailsheim zu Morstein inherited Braunsbach Palace in 1549 and initiated the first construction work on the palace in 1556. Due to the division of the Morstein line in 1567, Braunsbach Palace became the seat of the aforementioned Albrecht von Crailsheim, who had the palace expanded to a prestigious extent. Construction work was completed at the beginning of the 17th century. The round tower, which connects the southern wing with the newly constructed west wing, dates from this construction phase. The west wing was completed under Wolf von Crailsheim, whose death in 1637 marked the end of the Morstein-Braunsbach line. The west wing collapsed in 1847 and was subsequently rebuilt one story lower.

There is a really steep climb up to the castle.
