8月 20, 2023, St. Kilian's Church, Geslau
The forerunners of St. Kilians Church date back to the 13th century. In the first half of the 15th century the wooden church (around 1241) was replaced by a Gothic stone church. The two lower floors of the tower with the fine vault ribs and the pointed arch windows have been preserved from it. In 1740 the Gothic church was demolished due to dilapidation and lack of space. The master builder Johann David Steingruber (1702-1787), who came from Wassertrüdingen and worked in the court building office of the Margraviate of Ansbach, was commissioned with the new building. The current St. Kilians Church was his first work. Since then, the church has undergone several renovations and repairs, as it is exposed to wind and weather due to its exposed location.

You can clearly see a hill-shaped elevation on the Karrachsee shore. There used to be a "castle" here, or at least a country tower. The land tower was supposed to secure the close border between the Free Imperial City of Rothenburg and the County of Ansbach. The explanation sign says "Southwest" twice - it's more like the southeast corner of the lake. The ditch also ran southeast of the lake.

On the Central Franconian Way of St. James, which leads from Nuremberg to Rothenburg ob der Tauber over a total length of almost 100 km, there are always resting places for the pilgrims, where a meditation stele with a psalm invites for reflection. In addition, the current location and the distances between the start and destination are specified. The appeal of the Way of St. James was achieved between 2017 and 2018 by this measure, as well as many more, e.g. also significantly increased by the tree tables "fruit" as Wegzehrung. For this purpose, a cooperation project between the individual municipalities, through which the path leads, and many other partners was launched.
