Trimberg Castle, but mostly referred to as Trimburg, is a medieval hilltop castle. The castle is closed on weekdays, but from May to October it is open on Sundays and public holidays. Tours can be booked from the Elfershausen municipal administration. On some weekends in the summer, cultural events take place at the castle. For example, there is a medieval market, theater and music performances.

The former official castle, Saaleck Castle, stands on a mountain spur. The oldest parts of the castle date back to the 12th century. This includes the keep, a tower about 22 meters high, which has been accessible as an observation tower since 1998. On clear days you have a wonderful view over the Saale valley and into the Rhön.

Fine castle ruins that host occasional celebrations with beer and grilled food... coffee and cake lovers will also get their money's worth... but you should check the opening times... and if you're there for hiking... the path along the mountain ridge... a dream
