A beautiful town with the castle as its highlight. The castle is open in the summer from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The forecourt and the castle garden are freely accessible. There is an admission fee for the castle itself and the exhibitions. As of 2025, the fee is €7 per person. But it's definitely worth it.

Cadolzburg Castle is an impressive medieval fortress perched on a prominent rocky outcrop above the town of the same name in Bavaria. Its history dates back to the 12th century, and for a long time it was an important base for the burgraves of Nuremberg, later known as the Hohenzollerns. The castle served not only as a defensive structure but also as an administrative center and temporary residence. Today, the castle houses a modern interactive museum called "HerrschaftsZeiten!" (HerrschaftsZeiten!), which vividly conveys the history of the Hohenzollerns in Franconia and Brandenburg.

It was even open today at around 1pm. The daily menu included currywurst, schnitzel and bratwurst. A really lovely and huge beer garden (all new seating outside), very inviting and the food is delicious. Also ideal with children because there is almost no traffic and the adjacent pond is always inviting to watch frogs :-)

Bike path very passable. Optically always very nice moments when nature takes the place again 😍

The 25 meter high observation tower (colloquially "pencil") was built at a high point in the town in 1893 by the local railway company (LAG) Munich in neo-Gothic style to promote excursion traffic to Cadolzburg.[42] In clear weather, it offers a far-reaching all-round view. It used to be a popular excursion destination, especially for the people of Fürth, who took the train to Cadolzburg at the weekend or especially when the cherry trees were in blossom ("in die Bläih"). A square wooden staircase leads up five floors. About halfway up is a small balcony on the north side of the tower, accessible through a wooden door.
