Braunfels is about 15 minutes by car from Wetzlar and is a fascinating little idyll, dominated by half-timbered houses, on a mountainous hill, not far from the Lahn. Its sights include the Braunfels Castle, the zoo and the historic market square. For me, Braunfels is one of the top 10 sights in Hesse 👍

After a fire in 1678, the market square was rebuilt. Today there is the tourist information, gastronomy and small shops with a wide range of different goods.
