The castle was built on the foundations of a moated castle. In 1676 the outer buildings and the manor house were rebuilt. The portal and the castle chapel were rebuilt in 1723. The castle is still owned by the von Spee family today.

The castle is privately owned by the people of Fürstenberg. It is used by the International Police Association as a seminar center for national and international seminars.

Nice castle with great beer garden

The castle ruin Waldenburg is a beautiful little castle ruin in the middle of a great forest. There are also small wooden benches so you can take a rest. There is also an information board to find out more about this ruin.
