Summer temperatures like those of the past few days and the relatively good water quality of the three large lakes in the municipality attract many water lovers to swim. In doing so, they ignore bans - because, as Andreas Joost from the municipality emphasizes, none of the lakes are officially designated as bathing waters. The accident last weekend at Strönfeldsee (Heeker See) showed how dangerous swimming in an unsupervised place and especially on quarry lakes with their cliff edges and sometimes unpredictable currents can be.

The unpaved bike path through the Venn is very easy to drive on. We were here in April. The landscape was still a bit like in hibernation. It's probably even more impressive here in the summer and autumn months.

Not very big, it's easy to get around, but it's still worth taking a break at Berkelbeach, nice ambience, great sandy beach with comfortable loungers and a great view of the lake.
