The total filling volume is around 25 million cubic meters. Filling began in 1994. Every year, 3.8 million m³ of water is pumped into the lake from swamp wells in the Inden opencast mine so that it maintains its current level. Entry is free, you enter and swim at your own risk, there is no lifeguard. In the immediate vicinity, between Floßdorf and Broich, the Rur meanders along its natural course. Walking paths around Lake Barmen invite you to discover the charming surroundings.

The Blausteinsee is still very young. It is the pit of a former opencast mine, which was filled with water from 1994. You can still see his artificial character somehow.
