At the Hamburg city limits, the Bille River enters urban areas for the first time. Right at the beginning, the Hanseatic City of Hamburg welcomes the Bille with a historical relic: The Brewery Ponds. Located on Chrysanderstraße, where the Bille once again "encircles" a residential area, in a semicircle between the railway line and the riverbed, the Brewery Ponds were established there in the 1860s together with the traditional Bergedorfer Actien-Bier Brewery and were used for ice production in the winter.
