Beautiful views of the idyllically flowing Bille river

The outdoor pool and the Großensee are great - the Midsummer Triathlon and transition zone also take place here https://midsummer-triathlon.de But if you want to ride a racing bike (and don't want to take breaks to swim) you should know: you can't get to the lake from the poorly paved road and the road through Großensee is in a miserable condition: potholes, patches and bumps without end, so that you can hardly find a track that you can get through easily. There are also quite a lot of cars and a footpath, which isn't really an alternative either.

Great to drive and without cars. Here you can make good progress!

At the Hamburg city limits, the Bille River enters urban areas for the first time. Right at the beginning, the Hanseatic City of Hamburg welcomes the Bille with a historical relic: The Brewery Ponds. Located on Chrysanderstraße, where the Bille once again "encircles" a residential area, in a semicircle between the railway line and the riverbed, the Brewery Ponds were established there in the 1860s together with the traditional Bergedorfer Actien-Bier Brewery and were used for ice production in the winter. The Mühlenteich is more of a highlight that should be located in the Gravel sector. With a racing bike, it's a bit hard on the tires on the gravel...

Just the right place for a break

The source of the Glinder Au lies between Langelohe and Kronshorst (Brunsbek). It flows in a south-westerly direction, is fed by the Langeloher Graben and the Stellauer Bach and passes under the federal motorway 24. There, in the Friederici Park recreation area, it feeds the Glinder mill pond and used to power a copper mill. It then flows through the town of Glinde and then turns west in front of the railway embankment of the former Südstormarn district railway, where the Glinder Au forms the border between Oststeinbek and its district of Havighorst. Here at Gut Domhorst stood a powder mill (built in 1581) on the Domhorst mill pond. Further west just behind the right-hand tributary Forellenbach is the Oststeinbek mill pond. Behind it, it then reaches the Hamburg area, flows north of Mümmelmannsberg, becomes a lake again (fallow landscape Steinfurths Diek, created in the 1970s along Steinfurther Diek, intended as a natural monument with rare birds and butterflies - also very popular with model boat owners). After passing a fish ladder, it again crosses under the A 1 as a brook, where it widens below Kirchsteinbek to the (Steinbeker) mill pond, then crosses under the federal highway 5, and finally flows into the Bille about a kilometer south of it.
