The settlement name Graven was mentioned for the first time in 1334. The castle complex itself first appeared in writing in 1341, when Knight Adolf von Graven was enfeoffed with it by Archbishop Walram von Jülich of Cologne.

Exploring Burg Castle is always worthwhile - whether on a guided tour or on your own exploration, where you can get information via an app at various stations inside the castle. A highlight is of course a ride on the cable car and if you still have an appetite afterwards, you shouldn't miss the delicacies of a Bergisch coffee table.
