5月 22, 2025, Kirche Gadebusch
The Gadebusch church was built around 1225, at the same time as the Vietlübber church, by Duchess Agnes of Mecklenburg and Queen of Sweden, with the oldest sections dating back to 1215. No other Mecklenburg town church exhibits as much "Romanesque" style as the Gadebusch church. The western chapel dates from 1445. The bronze fifth, the wooden baptismal vestment from 1659, the pulpit from 1697, remains of choir stalls from before 1461, limestone gravestones with brass inlays of the deceased, and valuable paintings of sacred themes – these are just a few of the numerous furnishings of this church, which has been extensively restored since 1955.

5月 14, 2025, Gadebusch Station and Historic Trains
The historic Gadebusch station opened on October 12, 1897, and is a remarkable testament to Mecklenburg's railway history. It was built on the Schwerin–Rehna railway line, operated by the Grand Ducal Mecklenburg Friedrich-Franz Railway. The listed building impresses with its elaborate architecture, featuring a half-timbered upper story and a striking turret. After years of vacancy and impending decay, the station was sold and extensively renovated in 2009. Since May 2012, it has housed the "Station Burgsee" restaurant and has been transformed into a lovingly designed adventure station. A special highlight for visitors—especially those on bike tours—are the two historic sleeping cars on site: a former GDR government train from 1968 with six sleeping compartments, and a faithfully restored Orient Express car from 1941. Both can now be booked as exceptional overnight accommodations. Anyone taking a cycling tour through West Mecklenburg should definitely plan a cultural detour to Gadebusch station – whether for a coffee break in a historic setting or a special overnight stay with railway flair.

For a long time, such memorials were fortunately no longer up to date. Nowadays, yes, but unfortunately more than ever.... Hopefully, people will soon come to their senses again and make peace forever.

Located directly in the Gadebusch city forest and on the Burgsee, you can enjoy typical Mecklenburg hospitality and excellent service here. In addition to its first-class "Station Burgsee" restaurant, the historic Gadebusch train station offers other options for active leisure and vacation planning. 11月 26, 2024, Münzschlägerbrunnen Gadebusch
On July 2, 2011, the Münzschlägerbrunnen was ceremoniously unveiled on the north-east side of the Gadebusch town hall. The fountain and its figure (a naked, muscular man) are made of bronze and reach a height of 210 cm with the 80 cm high granite base. It illustrates the history of the city, which had a mint in the Middle Ages (1542 to 1624), in a slightly exaggerated depiction. The work of art, which was inaugurated on the occasion of the 2011 coin festival, was donated to the city by the Sparkasse Foundation and the Schotte family from Gadebusch. The family had commissioned the sculptor Wolfgang Knorr to create it. Description: “65 copies of original coins stored in the Schwerin coin cabinet adorn the base.” The person who came up with the idea, Gerhard Schotte, was allowed to make silicone impressions of the coins for the work of art in the coin cabinet. Each coin reproduced here refers to people from contemporary history such as Albrecht the Fair (1542), Johann Albrecht I or Adolf Friedrich I, Duke of Mecklenburg. The man with the strong arm checks the embossed image again before striking and lifts the stamp again. - Knorr has designed a small wing on the left shoulder blade of the striker, placing his depiction somewhat in the mythical realm. In 2016, visitors to the city were able to purchase a re-stamping of the 1549 coin, which is considered a Reformation thaler. The suggestion came from the city church's support association, which also received the proceeds. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gadebusch

A beautiful half-timbered house on the opposite side of the market attracts attention: the Zeiss'sche Haus, Markt 12 and 13, which was built as a town hall in 1692 and is therefore one of the oldest houses in the city. From the many users that followed, the eponymous family has been preserved, which initially ran a bookbinding shop, a book and paper shop and a photo studio here in the 20th century...." http://www.ipernity.com/doc/1081883/46583388

12月 29, 2023, Altes Rathaus Rehna
The old town hall in Rehna in the district of Nordwestmecklenburg is a listed half-timbered building with a plastered facade. It is located near the market square at Mühlenstraße 1 and was used as the town hall and the seat of the administration of the Rehna district until 1998. The building is a two-story, gabled half-timbered house with a fieldstone base and mansard roof. On the latter there is a lantern tower. The half-timbering is made of bricks. The plastered, three-story facade has five axes on the ground floor. A six-step staircase with wrought iron railings leads to the central door, which is framed by pilasters (wall pillars) and an architrave (horizontal beam). There are six window axes on the first floor. Above this begins the two-zone curved segmental gable with two windows and a central clock in the lower zone and a horizontal segmental window in the upper zone. The octagonal, open lantern tower with bell is covered with a baroque-style tail cap on which a compass rose is located. The building, which was built in the 18th century, was originally a granary and was owned by the Hoyer family until 1791. When the Zeiss House, which had previously been used as the town hall, became too small for the town, it bought the building for 3,500 Reichstaler. The renovation, which lasted until 1810, cost another 3,272 Reichstaler. The building contained rooms for the magistrate, apartments for the mayor and the councilors and later prison cells in the attic. After a major fire in 1831, the roof tower and a clock were added in 1833. The facade was plastered around 1900, the service rooms were enlarged in 1903 and a fireproof filing room was created. In 1998, the town and district administration moved from the town hall to the Long House of the Rehna monastery complex. After the extensive renovation of the Old Town Hall in 2003, the building now houses an educational institution and apartments. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altes_Rathaus_(Rehna)

12月 29, 2023, Rehna Monastery
Rehna is home to one of the most beautiful and largest preserved monastery complexes in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The monastery offers space for art, theater and music and is a starting point for pilgrimages and long-distance hiking. Particularly worth seeing are the large monastery garden, the late Romanesque monastery church, the Kneipp pool on the monastery grounds, and the pretty town complex of Rehna with its half-timbered buildings. The Rehna Monastery was founded between 1230 and 1236 from the Ratzeburg Monastery. The founder of the monastery was a brother Ernestus from Ratzeburg. But its origins are mysterious. No brother of this name appears in the records of the Ratzeburg monastery. The fact is that the monastery grew quickly. Right from the start, it was given numerous lands by nobles. The land holdings continued to expand over the years. In the 14th and 15th centuries the monastery was one of the most important in Mecklenburg. In the course of secularization, the monastery was dissolved in 1552. It becomes the widow's residence of some duchesses of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Later, the monastery houses became official buildings. The monastery church, 3 wings of the cloister and the Long House have been preserved to this day. In 2004, a wonderful 300 square meter monastery garden was inaugurated. The heart of the complex is the four-theme garden. Here you will find the medicinal plants, scented plants, flower gardens and the Bible garden with symbolic plants. Exhibitions, performances and concerts take place regularly in the monastery complex. The facility can be visited as part of guided tours. https://www.mecklenburg-Schwerin.de/aktivitaeten/familie-und-kinder/ausflugstipps/kloster-rehna/

12月 29, 2023, Perlin Village Church
On the way from Gadebusch to Wittenburg, the church village of Perlin is a little off the beaten path. The place was first mentioned in documents in 1222. The church is a towerless fieldstone building from the middle of the 13th century, but only the window in the east wall of the choir and the pointed arched portal of the priest's gate on the south wall remain of the original Gothic architectural style. The retracted square choir has a domed vault on rectangular ribs and a slightly ogival triumphal arch. After a fire in 1734, the nave was rebuilt in its current form and covered with a flat ceiling. The half-timbered gables on the east sides of the nave and choir also date from the time of the renovation. On the west side there is a free-standing belfry with a bronze bell from 1735, cast by Laurentius Strahlborn in Lübeck. On the bell with the inscription there is also the coat of arms of the donor Elisabet Margaret Sophia von Lützow, née von Ditten. In 1946 the entire interior was destroyed by the Soviet occupying forces. In 1948, after a temporary renovation, the church was rededicated. The renovation of the building, including the bell tower, was completed in 1992 and the interior was renovated in 1995. The eye-catcher of the new, simple interior is the rustic altar table with the triumphal cross from the Pokrent church. There is a small brick grave chapel in the adjoining cemetery. Behind it is a family grave of the Counts of Bassewitz. https://www.dorfkirchen-in-mv.de/content/Version_1/detail_total.php?Reg_Nr=424
