Worth seeing historic church in Görne

The city of Friesack decided in 1894 to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the first Brandenburg elector at the historic site. The burgrave of Nuremberg from the Hohenzollern family conquered Friesack Castle in 1414 and drove the Quitzow robber barons out of the country. As a reward for the victory, Frederick I was enfeoffed with the Mark Brandenburg.

I would also like to express my pleasure and approval to you. I may be Swiss, but I have often explored the Mark in Fontane's footsteps, including Fouqué, Chamisso , Tucholsky, Brecht. I am convinced that a Märkische Dichterstraße will arouse interest beyond Germany's borders."

The manor house was built in 1786 by Christoph Philipp Gerhard von Bredow as a one-storey rendered building with nine axes. In 1898 the central avant-corps on the garden side, the portal on the courtyard side and a side wing were added. After 1945, the building served as a school, kindergarten and for residential purposes. Only remnants of the manor park have survived. In 2020, the manor house was sold to a private buyer from Berlin for €390,000. It has been renovated since 2022.

You have to rest here. Do not drive past, because the place is on the other side of the Rhinkkanal.

In the center of the city of Friesack is the approximately 1 hectare "Hohenzollern Park". A monument was erected here in 1894 to the first Elector of Brandenburg, Friedrich I, commemorating the conquest of Friesack Castle and the expulsion of the Quitzow robber barons in 1414. Later the area was designed as a park. The complex, neglected in the post-war period, was renovated by the city in 2012 and "revived" in its original design. This included the paths, places to stay and plantings.
