The church serves as a votive church for a miraculous crucifix. Archduke Leopold V initiated the construction of a church in 1629, and it was completed in 1666. The Wildsee, also called the Wilder See, is located in the northern Black Forest in Baden-Württemberg, northeast of the Ruhestein in the municipality of Baiersbronn.
