Since 2007, the former border control building at the New Salzach Bridge has been used as the "Kunsthaus Altes Zollamt" (Old Customs Office Art House) by a Burghausen group of visual artists.

Always good food up there

The approach from Austria (Ettenau) is a bit tricky. It ends in a very steep ramp on a busy federal highway. So leave your bikes at the bottom or take a wide detour and enter the town square via the Laufen Gate. Have fun, visit the Ponlach Graben, the castle with its interesting museum, and the cafés on the town square and in the castle. The walk is worth it.

There are several routes to the Stoißer Alm. I drove up from Hammer. A very nice alpine pasture with a restaurant. Great views of the surrounding mountains.

Pier for raft trips. Registration required through Burghausen Tourism. Access by bus from Burghausen. No organized return transport from Burghausen.

Small village between Lake Waginger and Lake Taching.

Very high-quality town square with a well-structured gastronomic offering and many outdoor seating and rest areas.
