Unmarked and steep paths lead to this summit, but they are easily recognizable, as people do occasionally find their way here. Nevertheless, there is a good chance of experiencing a solitary and peaceful summit ascent.

There is a winter room here where you can seek shelter from wind and weather even outside of opening hours 👍

From the terrace of the Enzianhütte, you have a fantastic view to the south. The food was delicious, too. 👍

Great hut, view of Schneeberg

The Kirchwaldberg is a mountain in the Gutenstein Alps in southern Lower Austria. It is 1067 m high and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape, especially the Schneeberg and the Unterberg. It is a popular hiking destination and can be climbed from different sides. The Kirchwaldberg lies on the ridge that connects the Kieneck in the northeast with the Unterberg in the southwest. It is a striking, rocky peak structure that is well camouflaged by the forest cover. It has a small summit cross that commemorates the deceased mountain rescuers.

The Unterberg summit is the highest point of the Unterberg, a mountain in the Gutenstein Alps in Lower Austria. It has a height of 1,342 meters and offers wonderful views of the surrounding landscape. From the summit you can see the Schneeberg, the Rax, the Schöpfl, Vienna and Lake Neusiedl. To get to the Unterberg summit, there are various hiking trails that vary in length and difficulty depending on the starting point. Here are some examples: From the Myralucke the hike takes about 2 hours and leads along a forest path and a path through the forest. From Muggendorf the hike takes around 3 hours and leads over a steep mountain meadow or a leisurely summit path. From Miragraben the hike takes about 1.5 hours and leads along a wide path along the stream. On the way to the summit you can also visit the Unterberg refuge, which is open all year round and offers accommodation, food and events. The refuge is about 150 meters below the summit and is an ideal place to rest and enjoy.

Simple hut, which is run on a voluntary basis by members of the St. Pölten Mountain Association. Open from early May to early November on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. When the hut is not open, there is a freely accessible winter room with two beds available. We were given a very friendly welcome. The hut is right next to the summit of the Türnitzer Höger.
