Another great spot at Weissensee that you can enjoy

The Weissensee - the perfect stop on a relaxed bike ride. The turquoise water sparkles in the sun, and if you sit down on the bench on the shore for a moment, you can really stretch your legs. The clear, fresh air and the view of the surrounding mountains make it difficult to get back on the bike. A cold drink on the lakeshore is almost a must here - especially if you take off your helmet for a break. On hot summer days, the atmosphere at the lake is lively, but still pleasantly quiet. Sometimes I hear a quiet rippling as the wind blows through the trees. A real treat for every cyclist! There are also small beach areas with deck chairs that practically invite you to dip your feet in the cool water. Whether you have just finished a long tour or are heading for the Weissensee - this place offers a welcome refreshment. And if you haven't had enough, you can continue cycling along the lake and enjoy the wonderful view. Make yourself comfortable, take your time and let nature work its magic on you.

The Weißensee is 11.6 kilometers long; at its widest point it measures 900 meters, at its deepest 99 meters. With a mixing depth of 40-60 m, it is a meromictic body of water. Its surface area is 6.5 square kilometers and its catchment area covers 46 square kilometers. Only a third of its 23-kilometer-long shore is built on (western part of the lake and the Ortsee on the eastern shore), the rest is under nature and landscape protection. There is no through road along the lake shore, only a narrow, sometimes steep path connects the Ronacherfels (eastern end of the road) with the eastern shore, which is otherwise only accessible through the Weißenbachtal from the Drautal side.

Lake Weissensee is a lake in Carinthia, located at the foot of the Gailtal Alps, north of Hermagor. It lies at 930 meters above sea level, making it the highest of Carinthia's large bathing lakes. The vast majority of the lake belongs to the municipality of Weissensee, while the short eastern shore belongs to the municipality of Stockenboi. The development of the cycle paths is unique, very well marked, and mapped.
