Here, visitors can visit the birthplace of the Italian polymath LEONARDO da VINCI (1452 to 1519). Throughout his life, he was involved in various arts (especially painting, sculpture and architecture) as well as in scientific research (e.g. anatomy), and was an inventor and engineer. The place of burial, however, is located in Amboise (Ile-de-France) in France. The assumption that he was buried there in the Hubertus Chapel (if you are interested, see https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/958658 ) is not scientifically proven, but is not implausible either, because da VINCI spent the last years of his life in the neighboring castle Le Clos Lucé, where the French king had invited him, and died there on May 2, 1519.

Anchiano is the small village that is home to the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci.

The Seppi source is located along the Colli Alti road that leads from Sesto to Pratolino. From here a dirt road starts that leads to the Sella degli Scollini and, from here, various MTB tours start.

Access is from the provincial road of Colli Alti where, more or less, the climb ends on both sides. From here, along a comfortable dirt road to the saddle of Scollini and then continue left to Tedesco Morto, and right to Poggio del Giro and Ceppeto.

S. Amato is a town in the municipality of Vinci located on the slopes of Montalbano amidst splendid olive groves. It is located on the road that goes up from Anchiano, where Leonardo's birthplace is located, and which leads to the Montalbano ridge. This church, which tradition says was built by Countess Matilde di Canossa in 1100, retains much of its medieval structures and is a true jewel of Romanesque architecture. From the small square it overlooks, you can enjoy an unparalleled view of the Arno Valley below and the Fucecchio Marshes.
