The Eisenaueralm is an idyllically situated alpine pasture at approximately 1,000 meters above sea level in the municipality of Sankt Gilgen in the Salzkammergut. Located north of the Schafberg mountain, it is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers. Owned by an agricultural cooperative, the pasture houses several alpine buildings, including the Buchberghütte and Kienberghütte, which offer regional specialties.

These huts were once built by lumberjacks the day they arrived at the logging site. They weren't designed to last, but had to be erected quickly. The lumberjacks stayed in the forest the entire time, as a daily trek would have taken too much time and energy. They slept and cooked there. For dinner, they usually had a stew made of flour and bacon, and if they were lucky, a few mushrooms if they could find any.
