The Schaunberg ruins, often called Schaunburg, are one of the most impressive historical sites in Upper Austria. They tower above the Eferding Basin in the municipality of Hartkirchen and were once the largest castle complex in the state. Built around 1150 by Heinricus de Scovenberch, a member of the Julbach noble family, they are the ancestral seat of the Counts of Schaunberg and the center of the county of the same name. Originally approximately 17,500 square meters in size, they were the largest castle complex in Upper Austria.

A pharmacy founded around 1600, which has been owned by the Fritsch-Richter family for over 100 years, has developed into an international healthcare services company (Richter Pharma AG), and the location at Stadtplatz 12 to 14 and Hafergasse 1 to 3 has become a 3,500 m2 inner-city center with a unique world of experience.
