Hiking and boat tour in Milford Sound.

Thunder Creek Falls is an impressive waterfall in Mount Aspiring National Park on New Zealand's South Island. The falls are approximately 28 meters high and are situated directly on the Haast River, surrounded by stunning scenery of silverbeech and kamahi forests. Access to the waterfall is very easy: a short, 200-meter walk leads from the parking area on the Haast Highway to a viewing platform offering a direct view of the falls. The walk is easy and suitable for all ages.¹ ² ³ The waterfall is particularly impressive after rainfall or in spring when the snowmelt begins. Therefore, the best time to visit is during the wet season or in spring when the water flow is at its highest.³ ⁴ Nearby attractions such as Fantail Falls, Blue Pools, and Roaring Billy Falls are all located along the Haast Highway and are easily accessible.⁵ ⁶ ⁷

For those that don’t think they can make it up from the bottom this is a great stop view point. If older travelers have an option to wait here while the younger ones carry I’m down and back up the trail.

You’re able to walk down to the base of the waterfall with some vantage spots/stops on the way. However what goes down must come up in the hiking world. Can be done in sneakers but in a wet winter would recommend better footwear.
