On a tour through the capital, a detour not far from the harbor is definitely worth it

Blue Penny is named after the indigo blue 2p theme, a rare theme. In 2001, the Blue Penny Museum was opened by the MCB. The collection includes the original Blue Penny and Red Penny designs from 1847. There are also paintings and various art objects on display. Among them is a statue of Paul and Virginia, created by Prosper d'Epinay in 1881. The two share a beautiful, tragic love story.

Beautiful, but be careful, the times given for the entire waterfall circuit shown are not correct (without a guide, only with Komoot)! We - really not unathletic - needed 6 hours instead of the stated 1:59, a couple running in the opposite direction, whom we met twice, even needed 8! Because of the underestimated time, we didn't have enough to drink with us, so it's better to take too much with you! Be prepared for some climbing on rocky stream slopes, because the main category "hiking trail" does not apply, shortly after the upper falls it becomes largely impassable, confusing and mediocrely marked terrain.

The path to the viewpoint is challenging even in dry weather. If it rains, it could be dangerous, especially going downhill. 😬

The path along the river to all 7 waterfalls is not easy. Sometimes you need a bit of experience to find the right path, unless you are with a guide.

The ascent to Piton Canot is quite steep but there are a lot of ropes here to help you! You get a wonderful view of Chamarel.

Le Morne Brabant is a 556 meter high mountain on the peninsula of the same name in the southwest of Mauritius. In 2008, the mountain was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List as a cultural landscape. The rich oral traditions about the mountain's role in the suffering and liberation of slaves were also recognized. Our guide Kavi (+230 5787 1002 / bappookav@gmail.com) was fantastic - he knows the mountain inside and out and used his knowledge and experience to lead us safely to the summit cross. You immediately notice that he knows every stone and every path there. The hike itself is demanding, especially in the upper part where it gets steeper. The view from the summit is breathtaking and the feeling of having made it to the top is simply indescribable. Kavi supported and motivated us throughout the entire tour. This hike is highly recommended for anyone looking for a challenge and at the same time wanting to enjoy the spectacular nature of Mauritius! Our tip: wear sturdy shoes
