Walked this route from Cruzinha to Ponta do Sol. Can be done in 3,5hours including some drink brakes, not to difficult In the morning from Ponta do Sol to Ribeira Grande with the collectivo for 100, and around 09:30 with the collectivo from Ribeira Grande to Cruzinha for 500. Worth a visit!

There is a small central square with a park. You can linger there for a while.

The square received its current name in 1876 in honor of the Portuguese colonial governor Caetano Alexandre de Almeida e Albuquerque. He was a passionate card player and for this reason the corners of the square are paved with the symbols of playing cards.

We were at the pier around midday. When the fishermen throw their waste into the sea and the boat traffic has thinned out, turtles come to feed. Manta rays are also said to be seen here in the late afternoon.
