The central part of the inn was built in 1632. Essentially, it was a residential building in which the living room also served as a dining room. Since the inn was not profitable, Christian Pietschen Melchior emigrated to America in 1890. In 1901 he returned, took over the inn and began planning a rock gallery in the gorge. The work was carried out from 1907 to 1914.
