The Riburg Saltworks in Rheinfelden began operations in 1848. Its 32 employees specialize in the production of loose salt, primarily used as de-icing salt. This requires highly efficient distribution logistics, especially in winter; around 1,100 tons of salt are produced daily, and at peak times, up to 8,000 tons of salt are loaded. Some of this is transported by rail. This is a tradition at the Riburg Saltworks: The production facility has been connected to the railway network since 1875, when the Bözberg railway line was put into operation. To store the salt, the Riburg Saltworks has two gigantic wooden dome structures, unique in Switzerland: Salt Domes I and II. Rheinfelden Town Hall Centrally located, the town hall with its impressive baroque facade, massive tower and beautiful courtyard stands in the middle of Rheinfelden's old town. Rhine Bridge "Border crossing between the two Rheinfelden" The old Rhine Bridge is a Rhine and border crossing between the two Rheinfelden. Rhine Bridge, Rheinfelden since 1150 Around 1150, Konrad von Zähringen had the first Rhine bridge built in Rheinfelden. This gave the newly minted town of Rheinfelden (which received town charter in 1130) a major economic boom. The bridge in Rheinfelden was the only bridge over the Rhine in the area at the time, and was even older than the bridges in Basel. Thanks to the island, building a bridge here was easier than elsewhere in the Rhine, as the island could be used as a bridge pillar. This is why the bridge still has a bend today. The popular attraction previously stood in a different place for a long time. Named after the Austrian Archduke Albrecht VI. The Albrechtsbrunnen was first mentioned in 1442. However, the Rheinfelden banner bearer only received his current name around a hundred years later - that of Archduke Albrecht VI (1418-1463). The fountain figure is a copy. The original, created in 1542, has been kept in the Fricktal Museum since its restoration in 1958/59.
