ライヘンバッハの滝は、ベルナーオーバーラントで最も印象的な自然記念物の一つであり、マイリンゲン近郊にあります。ライヘンバッハの水は、いくつかの滝となって約250メートル落下します。しかし、ライヘンバッハの滝が有名になったのは、その自然だけでなく、文学のおかげでもあります。シャーロック・ホームズの物語「最後の事件」では、アーサー・コナン・ドイルは、1891年5月4日に、探偵シャーロック・ホームズが宿敵モリアーティ教授と滝の端で戦うようにしました。モリアーティは深みへ落ちていきますが、ホームズは死を偽装して後に戻ってきます。この物語によって、滝は世界的に有名になりました。ハイカーにとって、ライヘンバッハの滝は、シュヴァルツヴァルトアルプまたはローゼンラウイ渓谷からマイリンゲンへのルート上の理想的な立ち寄り場所です。展望台からは、水の力を特に強く感じることができます。

Source of the little Emme

Above a small forest, the spring water bubbles out of the ground as if from nowhere, rushing down into the forest over moss-covered rocks and forming two waterfalls. It then flows as a stream through meadow slopes down into the valley to Schönenboden, where it finally flows into the Waldemme. This bubbling spring - known as the Emmensprung - thus forms one of the sources of the Waldemme. The Emmensprung can be reached in around 50 minutes from the valley station of the Sörenberg-Brienzer Rothorn cable car. The Emmensprung is also on the "Emmenuferweg" between the Brienzer Rothorn and Emmenbrücke, the first stage of which leads from the Brienzer Rothorn over the Eissee and this Emmensprung to Sörenberg.
