Historical background: Her real name was Anna Sophie Meyer, née Spreckels (1808–1835). She came from a humble background in Blumenthal (now part of the Oldendorf-Himmelpforten collective municipality). In 1835, she and her lover Cord Meyer were convicted of the murder of her husband (who was also her lover's father). On July 24, 1835, the public execution took place in Himmelpforten – one of the last major execution sites in the region.
