The car park directly at the beginning of the winter trail cannot be approached in winter or as long as there is snow. The journey from Waldhäuser via Böhmstraße is only possible from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. at other times. From Neuschönau, the Böhmstraße is completely closed to motor vehicles. The hut (87 m) is more than 100 years old and was renovated in 2017. It is located in the heart of the Bavarian Forest National Park and is often the starting point for hikes on the Goldsteig, to the Rachelsee or to the Grosser Rachel. Open from May to the end of October.
