The tower was repaired by RSB and has been open again since December 2023.

Always a worthwhile hike. It's a shame that the observation tower is still not open after almost a year.

Greifenstein Castle had no strategic importance after it was built, but what's left is very nice to look at. That's fine too.

I recommend anyone who should be here in Saalfeld-Rudolstadt to visit the Kulm. Whether on foot or by bike, when you are at the top you will be rewarded with a unique view. I can only say fantastic.

At an altitude of 786.1 m, we reach the Meuselbacher Kuppe. The inn with its tower is unfortunately closed. Today, the view over the valleys and mountains is dull and gray.

The castle can be hiked from Bad Blankenburg. Except for the entrance, the castle is surrounded by a rampart. It was first mentioned in 1208. Audio columns on the grounds provide information about the history. The later King Günther XXI of the House of Schwarzburg-Blankenburg was born here. The falconry is located in the outer bailey.
